They exist in a world of void and shadow. These complex matrixes are floating geometric forms—tactile edifices made of overlapping and repetitive syntaxes. Primarily in black and white, with matte finishes juxtaposed next to glossy ones, Nadal’s work resonates with its own unique vibrato and offers entry into three dimensional realities.
Andre’s very uncluttered artistic expression is essentially centred on the black and the white. These two materials, according to their matt effects or their shines, allied to meticulous techniques of brushing and smoothing, express a world in three dimensions. His pictorial universe consists of cubes, calligraphy, compactions of feathers, floating objects. The zen and dynamic aesthetics of André Nadal pulls us in a pondering that both calms and stimulates the spirit.

André Nadal was born in Oran in 1952. At the age of 10 years old, after the liberation of Algeria, he moved with his family to France. In 1969, passionate about drawing, Andre enrolled at the Fine Arts School of Perpignan to further his studies with an emphasis on technical drawing and architecture. After the birth of his daughter, Isabelle, in 1980, he discovered abstract painting. In 1983 after multiple trips to the United States, Andre decided to abandon technical drawing to devote himself solely to painting.
His work has been exhibited in galleries in Paris, Brussels, Casablanca, the south of France and now the first time in Asia at YANG GALLERY • Singapore. The artist shares his time between his two studios in Paris and the Tarn in the South of France.
