‘Such a work of art is extremely rare in the world’.
On July 28th 2017, Donald Trump’s painting “New York Skyline” was sold for USD 29,184 with a starting bid of USD 9000.
As we all know, Trump earned his fortune in real estate. From Business to politics, he was successfully elected president of the United States in 2017.
But only few know that he also identified himself as a ‘painter’. As Art takes over the world by storm, let us take a look at some of the forgettable, the good and the exceptional artworks that he and other famous politicians created.
Some people say that the highest realm of politics will venture into art naturally. shuttling between political and art is the tough guy Vladimir Putin, current president of Russia.
Putin’s painting was even praised for its amazing talent shown by professional painters. “We see confidence in the way he draw lines, there is no naive fair as if by an amateur painter”.
And now we have George W. Bush, who served as the 43rd president of America from 2001-2009 . In 2009, Bush’s personal art creations came to light and they are surprisingly good.
If not for art, one will never guess the president who initiated two anti-terrorism wars has a serene side of him.
Speaking of artistic politicians, we can’t forget Winston Churchill
“If not politics, he will become a great painter. “
Churchill’s mother passed away in 1921. His beloved three year old daughter passed away too shortly after. Some heartbreaks are unspoken of but haunt your soul forever.
“Art gave me the spiritual strength to live on”. – Winson Churchill.
With Churchill in mind, naturally we will remember his opponent in the second world war, Adolf Hitler.
A young Hitler was very much interested in art during his school days and he showed exceptional talent. However, his painting style was not taken by the art institutions then. After failing to apply for the prestigious Vienna Academy of Fine Arts twice, a disheartened Hitler went into the army.
With that said, perhaps apart from Trump, our history and the world of the arts could have been very different today.
