Zhang Hui was born in Henan Province in 1983, She graduated with a bachelor’s degree from the Sculpture Department of the Tianjin Academy of Fine Arts in 2009 and earned a master’s degree from the Oil Painting Department of the same institution in 2014. Her work is deeply inspired by the dreams she experienced during childhood, which she vividly brings to life in her art.
From people to objects, Zhang Hui translates these dreamlike visions into reality. Her childlike style is evident in both her sculptures and paintings, featuring charming details like rounded cheeks and playful expressions. Zhang Hui’s art captures the enduring essence of childhood memories, inviting viewers to reminisce and connect with the joyful activities of their own younger years.
Regardless of her sculptures or paintings, the image of Zhang Hui’s works has a simple temperament. The characters in her works are all childlike and lovely, with dark skin and a round face, all glowing in the passing time.
Zhang Hui’s work shows the infinite memory of childhood and pastoral life. I believe that people who appreciate Zhang Hui’s works will show a smile in their appreciation, “I did this when I was a kid”. This is the case with excellent art works. The artist draws his precious experience into a work of art, thereby evoking the memories of people who share her experience.
