French President Emmanuel Macron arrived in Beijing on Monday to kick off a three-day state visit to China.
The French president and first lady Brigitte Macron were received by Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi at Beijing Capital International Airport.
Macron is the first European leader to visit China since last autumn’s 19th National Congress of the Communist Party of China.
An avid art lover, the president also stopped by the world renowned 798 Art District in Beijing city.
The 798 Art District is located in the northeast corner of Beijing and was originally a factory area built in the 1950s. It is also called the Dashanzi Art District as it sits in Dashanzi zone. 798 Art District covers an area of 148 acres (60 hectares), with Jiuxianqiao Road to its west, Beijing-Baotou railway to its east, Jiangtai Road to its south and Jiuxianqiao Road North to its north. Characterized by contemporary art by some of the world’s most famous Chinese artists, it has become the exhibition center of Chinese culture and art, and also a renowned cultural and creative industries centralized area.
